Arthur McAvoy
2 Year Trustee - Navy

I enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the Fargo Building, Boston, Massachusetts on 06 February 1961.  My life would be forever changed! Recruit training, "boot camp” was held at the Recruit Training Center, Great Lakes, Ill.  Twenty-eight years, five months later, in August 1989, I retired, with the rank of Lieutenant Commander.

I have retained ties to the military community through my involvement in veteran service organizations.  I am a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Fleet Reserve Association, and Military Officers Association of America.

In addition to being a card-carrying member, I have served as Commander, VFW Post 5737, Abington, MA.; President, Tarrant County Veterans Association, Texas; President, Fleet Reserve Association, Branch 11, Fort Worth, TX; Commander, American Legion Post 626, Fort Worth TX.; President, South Central Region, Fleet Reserve Association.  This includes various positions within said organizations, as well as on District and Regional levels.
